The nutritionist told us to not bring junk food in the house. If we can't eat it, don't bring it in. She is right and most of us know this not that we follow it. My brother is staying with us for a little while and I told him the new rule. Not that he can't have his own sweets but he has to keep them out of view for us. He bought some O.reos and put them on top of the refrigerator. Is this out of view? NO! My daughter saw them and asked for some. Since the program is about moderation, I gave her three cookies. I at first said "no" but then she said "The lady said I could have sweets once a week". At least she is listening. I hope she remembers that this is her sweets for the week:) It's hard saying "no" but not saying "no" is what got us here in the first place.
I have noticed that my daughter eats out of boredom. Even though we had to work on her Science Fair project yesterday, that took up a lot of the day. The other part there wasn't much to do. I wasn't feeling well, in the afternoon, so we didn't go out. My daughter asked for something to snack on almost every hour. I know she wasn't hungry. I should have explained to her that she was probably asking for a snack because she had nothing else to do and I should have encouraged her to do something else. I did tell her she could get fruit. Next time I will say those things, I just wasn't up to it yesterday.
We forgot to fill out the food diary yesterday, we will have to do it today. Also, we will go for a walk this evening while my son is in Cub Scouts. This will be her first full week of the exercise program.
